Plastic casings for skinless sausages are made from polymers like polypropylene, polyethylene, or polyamide. They are non-edible and are used for sausages that are not smoked. 

 

How are plastic casings used?

  • Plastic casings are used to shape and contain the meat and spices inside. 

  • They can be flat or shirred. 

  • They can be laminated or co-extruded with a polymer that helps the meat stick to the film. 

  • They are used for non-smoked products where high yields are expected.
